The program will include, And the glory of the Lord, O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, For unto us a child is born, Glory to God, and the Hallelujah Chorus. These masterpieces of music are the essence of Christmas music and compliment the Christian word.
The Tredagh Singers Concert of Christmas Music is tradition in Drogheda marking the final countdown for Christmas.
Handel’s Messiah was first performed in Dublin on 13 April 1742. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.
Celebrating 50 years of singing together, we are planning a year of events culminating in a tour to Malta in Autumn 2020.
“This combination of local musical talent both orchestral and choral is going to make an exceptional performance that should not to be missed”
Geraldine Doggett, Mussical Director of Tredagh Singers said.
“The choir is really looking forward to performing Handel’s masterpiece. This is a great Christmas Concert and the Hallelujah Chorus is a great a choral juggernaut”
Anna Mulroy Chairman Tredagh Singers remarked
