Tredagh Singers are Drogheda’s longest-established choir and currently the only full-voice choir in the town. They regularly conduct performances in the community of Drogheda and around the country and their Christmas Celebration Concerts in the Augustinian Church in Drogheda are always very well-attended and enjoyed.

Having travelled to Rome and performed in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City in 2012 for their 40th anniversary, they wanted to mark the occasion of their 45th year with another special trip. They have, therefore, just returned from a 6-day trip to Berlin, Germany, which saw them perform at the Irish Embassy and make a presentation of a hamper from Drogheda businesses Tuite Butchers and McCloskey’s Bakery to the Irish Ambassador His Excellency Michael Collins. They also performed an extensive programme of Irish-themed musical pieces in a concert with their hosts, the Berlin Celtic Choir at which they also presented some Listoke Gin and Slane Whiskey gifts to mark the occasion. Their performance was conducted by their Musical Director Geraldine Doggett and supported by their accompanist, Joanne Kierans.
To make the concert an all-island affair, a choir from the North of Ireland, the Lisburn Harmony Ladies Choir, also sang some Irish-themed pieces and joined in the shared musical pieces which finished the concert which played to a hugely appreciative, capacity audience.
All-in-all, the trip was a great success and allowed the Tredagh Singers to demonstrate what they do best; music-making to a high standard, using the musical skills within the community. These skills can be enjoyed by the people of Drogheda once again in their upcoming summer gala concert in the beautiful setting of Listoke House in Drogheda on the evening of the 20th May, 2017. So come along and enjoy the Tredagh Singers sing in the summer.
